School Story: |
|
Attended Cuyahoga Community College and then Kent State University. Graduated December 1977. Also attended Teton Science School in Kelly, WY, where I studied alpine ecology under the late Dr. Jack Major of the U. of CA. at Davis. In 1984 attended the Cuyahoga Valley Ranger Academy and received a seasonal ranger law enforcement commission. During winter of 1991 attended the Albright Training Center for National Park Service Rangers at Grand Canyon, AZ.
A number of friends in Explore Scout Post 62 thought I might end up someday working as a park ranger since I really enjoyed our trips to places like Isle Royale, Antietam, and Gettysburg. |

In my favorite place, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.

Cathy my wife on our Honeymoon, November 28, 1981.

Cathy at Monument Valley, Arizona, during our Honeymoon in 1981.

On my way to work in November 2009. I was still in my summer uniform.

Our granddaughter Brandi.

Our grandson Nathan being silly. Do you see the resemblance to Albert Einstein?

Our oldest son Derrick who has been with the 3rd Infantry Division's 3rd Brigade's Supply Battalion.

Our son Andrew inside his truck cab. In his spare time he is continuing his education through correspondence courses. He is a big Denver Broncos football fan and likes eating out at Texas Roadhouse Restaurants.

Our son Will playing his guitar at a local coffee house. Will currently has at least one CD copyrighted.

Our oldest daughter Trish (left) with her 16 year old daughter Bridget.

Our daughter Trish with her daughter Heather who just graduated from High School this year 2010. Heather will be heading off to college this fall.

Looking towards the Grand Teton from the flat summit of Mount Moran, Teton Range, June 28, 1980. My friend and climbing partner Jesse O'Conner took this photo of me on the 12,594 foot high peak.

On summit of 13,770' Grand Teton in Wyoming. Mount Teewinot, Jenny Lake, and Jackson Lake, Jackson Hole in distance. Photo taken by my climbing partner Jim Doss. July 1981.

Grand Teton Range from Teton Basin in Idaho. My wife Cathy was born and grew up in this part of the country.

My wife Cathy at our campsite in Bridger National Forest. July 2005.

Our three youngest children, William, Andrew, and Susan at Yellowstone Lake.

Explorer Scout Post 62 on camping/hiking trip to Isle Royale National Park in 1971.

Teton Science School 1975 field ecology course. Professor Jack Major (center) and his brother Ted Major (right) who was director of the school, a branch of the U. of CA, Berkley. We were studying alpine ecology for college credit in the Tetons.

The late Jack Major, who was a highly respected alpine botanist, shown here at the terminal moraine of School Room Glacier, Teton Range, 1975. Jack was one of my favorite college instructors. A very humble man with a very high intelligence.

We live just outside Gettysburg, site of the Civil War battle and of Lincoln's famous address. I use to be involved in doing living history programs but now am getting too old for that.
