I was so sorry to hear that Mark passed away.  I knew he was ill when I saw him at the reunion, but I had hoped for the best.  With all the time and distance, we didn't stay in touch over the years, but it was great to see him last July.  As one of my Coventry cohorts, he will always have a special place in my heart.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

This email was received through the website from Brian Patrick Clark, Shaker '70

As a peer of Marc's, as a man who had the opportunity to play against him twice ('68 & '69), and most importantly, as a man who had come to think of Marc as a friend, I am incredibly saddened to have just learned of his death. He was, in all the appropriate ways, a genuinely "good dude", and I am heartbroken for his family and his friends.

Please rest assured that the scope of Marc's imprint on this world extends well beyond his Cleveland Heights upbringing and loyalties.

With great sadness,
Brian

When I joined the reunion committee for our 40th reunion I was struck by Mark's commitment to the process of creating a wonderful weekend for fellow classmates.  As we were making decisions on when and where the reunion would be held, I received several phone calls from him with his strong feelings about the decisions we were making.  His thoughts were always to create a weekend that would be inviting for every single classmate.

How lucky for our four children who attended Shaker Heights High School - Mark knew each one of them and would always see them in the cafeteria.  Mark was the "watchful eye" at their school for Roger and me.

We should all find strength in our many good memories.

I remember the fun days when the Wiley Jr. High school girls would go up to Severance Mall on Saturday's to meet the Roosevelt boys. I remember thinking how cool it was to meet Mark and Sid Rosner. They were a lot of fun. We would watch them bowl and hang out for hours together at the mall.  Now they both are gone...This is so unbelievable! I hope they see each other again up in Heaven. RIP Mark. You have left an imprint on all of our hearts. Nadine

i've been giving a lot of thought to my memories of Mark over the last few days. As i sat at the funeral service my head was spinning with memories and every one of them included a smile.  Mark was that rare high school guy who was just as comfortable on the football field as when i made him dance in a furry bunny suit for a choir concert. He was that guy that could do both and stay cool long before Glee made it popular.

I only got to know Mark at Heights and what a great guy he was. Always with a smile and ear for anyone that needed to talk. He will be missed by all that knew him. Blessings to the family.

i've been thinking about Mark for  the last few weeks, yet unable to put my thoughts into words.

I knew Mark mainly through my involvement with choir.  He was a great sport, doing whatever was asked of him. Like Elissa commented before me, Mark easily walked the halls of Hts. as both the 'big man on the football field' as well as the rich bass singer in the choir.  And if he was needed to partner one of the dancers in a choir routine, well, he was up for the job...In fact, Mark was my partner for some song/dance routine.  All I remember is that it was at the end of the song and i ended up perched on Mark's left shoulder, my arm raised, while he balanced me there, awaiting applause.

I suddenly felt my skirt unbutton and start to slide down my hip,and in a panic I whispered to Mark my situation....Not to worry, the ever cool Mark simply grabbed at my waistband as i came(almost tumbling) off his shoulder to take our bows in tandem......and hands-on-waistband- we exited, stage right, laughing all the way.

We later lived in the same neighborhood, raising kids in the same school district...he was always warm, and friendly....You are greatly missed, Mark...

Hope Carrie and the kids will enjoy this little anecdote ....Fondly, Carole

I remember Mark from Roosevelt Jr. High, where we shared the same homeroom and a few classes. Plus, he was the very first guy to ever ask me to dance...to this day, I remember the song, "Pretty Woman". Through this site, I conveyed that memory to him, which he said brought a smile to his face. He was a big guy with an even bigger heart! My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Let's hope those classmates who have passed before us are having their own 'reunion' in a better place.

I was sad to see that Mark died He was my best friend from the first day of coventry elementry when he wore a cleveland browns football helmet to school. I remember flipping baseball cards with him. I knew his family and could not believe how much he looked like his dad when he got older
